• He was born on February 9, 1873.

Honours:

• He has been described as “the founding father of modern Tamil theatre”and Father of Tamil drama.
• He was a playwright, director, producer,Lawyer and actor.
• He worked as a lawyer and  judge.
• He was the reason of the Tamil drama was a priority in the eyes of the people.
• He also introduced poetry, kirtan, etc. in some of his plays.
• At the age of 22 his first play debuted with the name ‘Leelavathi-Suluzana’.
• He has written 80 dramas.

Awards:

• He was awarded Sangeetha Drama Academy Award in 1959.
• In 1916, he was awarded a Drama Professor.
• In 1963 he was awarded the title Padmabhushan.

Death:

• He Died on 24 September 1964.
